New Item on eBay

Hey folks!

I've been feeling it the past few days.

On Saturday, I went out Yard Saleing.
Looked like the day was going to be a waste. I kept seeing people
leaving with the stuff I would have liked. All morning I kept telling
myself I should just go home. I picked up some books, a couple ties for
work, a lava lamp and two shelves for my new space at the Greenville
Antique Center (711 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI, (401) 949-4999).

Well, for all my mumbling about going home, I stayed out as long I
usually do. When I did decide to head home, I pasted several yard sales
without stopping. At a red light I saw another sign and just
followed it. At first it didn't seem like much. I remember the stop
from a few years ago. (Yes, we remember where we've been, even if we
don't know where we are!). I remember lots of unusual art piece and the
two gay guys having it. It was weird, because none of the art was
theirs. Anyway, this time there was only one guy, and he didn't nearly
have as much as last time. However, there was a toy box with a lot of
different stuff in it, including some Lionel Trains. Not sure what up
with that. Normally, Lionel Trains would be scooped up, even in the
less than mediocre condition these were. Only thing I could think of
that guy was asking too much for them. I asked anyway. For the box, he
want $40.00. No bad at all considering what was there. I offered
$30.00. They day wouldn't be a total waste. Here is some of the stuff I
got:

  • Heller 1/72 Curtiss 75.A3 Model

  • Suydam H-O Modern Factory 541

  • Suydam H-O Modern Industry 543

  • Lionel 1872 Engine & Tender

  • Lionel 1875W Western & Atlantic Whistle

  • Lionel 1876 Western & Atlantic Mail

  • Lionel 6219 C & O

  • Lionel 1877 Flat Car

  • Lionel 6476 Hopper

  • Lionel 50 Gang Car

  • Great American Belt Buckle – Dodge Van #426

Like I said It wasn't all in great shape, but price accordingly, I put a retail value at around $300.00.
Not a bad investment.

Sunday, with help my sister, her son and his friend. I set up my space at Greenville, using most of the
stuff I bought to augment what I already have. I think my space (B60) looks pretty good. I'll know Wednesday how well stuff sells. Felt good about thing. The only thing is needed to list some stuff on eBay.

Monday, I had some yard work to do after work (Thanks, Ed S.). I did write a few items, but mostly I
didn't do anything.

Tuesday, I chose one my .50 Yard Sale ties to wear to work. The guys on work get on me because of them. I
just don't want to $30 or more for a tie. As I was heading into my office, I notice a marking on the tie. I hadn't seen it before. I
smiled when I recognized it. Hermes! What a name. I know I had another score. I the office I showed it off to everybody. When was able to check it out on
eBay, this design was selling between $40-50. More correctly, had SOLD for that amount. Tonight, I priced a few items for Greenville and listed my tie and a game on eBay.

The game is Acquire by Avalon Hill.

My tie is also there.

Lying for Money

Tell me why?

Why am I disappointed? Two weeks ago,
I purchased a Bose Wave Radio.

The house was for sale. The woman said
the LED panel didn't work. You couldn't tell what time it was or what
channel the radio was on.

Other than than that the Radio and CD
worked fine. I didn't spend allot of money on it, $5.00. Of course the
woman lied to me. It didn't work. Serves me right, it wasn't set up. I
took my chances.

I guess I'm more disappointed that the
woman lied for $5.00. I hope she needed it and isn't going to spend it
at the casino, or something stupid.

Is $5.00 worth lying
for?

Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.

Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.

Wouldn't you like to get away?

Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name.
You wanna go where people know,
people are all the same,
You wanna go where everybody knows
your name.

Making your way in the world today Takes everything you've got;
Taking a break from all your worries Sure would help a lot.

Wouldn't you like to get away?

All those night when you've got no lights,

The check is in the mail;
And your little angel Hung the cat up by it's tail;
And your third fiance didn't show;

Sometimes you want to go Where everybody knows your name,

And they're always glad you came;
You want to be where you can see,
Our troubles are all the same;
You want to be where everybody knows
your name.

Roll out of bed, Mr. Coffee's dead;

The morning's looking bright;
And your shrink ran off to Europe,
And didn't even write;
And your husband wants to be a girl;

Be glad there's one place in the world
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
You want to go where people know,
People are all the same;
You want to go where everybody knows
your name.

Where everybody knows your name,

And they're always glad you came;
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came...

I bid thee farewell...

It’s the end of and era for me. Last Saturday I canceled my comic book subscription service.

It started with neighborhood newsstand, the “bookie” joint as it was called.
Old School even for the 70’s

The Book Gallery
Superhero Universe
Starship Excalibur
The place in CA, when I lived out there in mid to late 80’s
Back to Starship Excalibur
Earthworld Comics
Rah CoCo’s
Shadowland Comics
& Time Capsule Comics

I have boxes from all of them except the CA store & Time Capsule.

Over 33 years of regularly buying comics.

I will still look for Usagi & Groo, but other than that…

I’m just to busy right now. Maybe, when it all settles down.

It was a good run

Playing By The Rules

Playing By The Rules

It wasn’t a team, just a bunch of kids
and the number of players
always changed depending on
who didn’t finish their homework.

There weren’t any lights at the park
and we couldn’t play in the dark
so we always went home
when the streetlights came on.

We’d argue and fight
about a pitch or a strike,
but we’d laugh and we’d cheer
for the whole world to hear.

There were only three rules
that came out of the blue
I think it was our moms
who made them.

And even though
the moms were not there,
we stuck by the rules
and obeyed them.

You gotta wear shoes
You can’t say bad words
and Never spit on the field

One time, Mike’s cousin Pete
came up from the city
to stay at his house
for two weeks.

We showed him around,
the woods and the town,
the Veteran’s Hall,
then we went to play ball.

Pete says, "This isn’t a team,
just a bunch of kids." We all
look at Mike, who looks away,
and give the kid a mitt anyway.

There are just three rules,
You gotta wear shoes
You can’t say bad words
and Never spit on the field.

"Says who?" says he.
"Those are the rules Pete,
that’s the way it’s gotta be."
And then he spits on the ground.

Can you believe that guy! We
make a huddle to talk about it,
Pete waits on the sidelines
kickin’ dirt.

He looks pretty unhappy.
We tell him, "The rules are the rules,
but because you’re new on the job,
we’re gonna give you a second chance."

So he agrees, and we make him say the rules out loud.
You gotta wear shoes
You can’t say bad words
and Never spit on the field.

When I grow up, I finish college
and get a job with the Health Dept.
in the city. One day I meet up with
Mike’s cousin Pete at the 7-11.

"How’s it going, Pete?
Long time no see!"
"I’m a fire fighter now,
at the Station down the street"

He says, " They’ve got these rules on the Fire House door:
You gotta wear shoes,
You can’t say bad words
and never, ever spit on the Fire House floor!"
